Equipment
I use an Audio-Technica BPHS1 Broadcast Stereo Headset with Dynamic Boom Mic so I can pace while I podcast.
Kyeli uses an Audio-Technica ATR2100-USB Cardioid Dynamic USB/XLR Microphone held by this stand atop this base, with a foam cap and a pop filter.
We feed them both into a Behringer Xenyx 802 Mixer which connects to a desktop computer.
If you’re just one person, you can choose one or the other. (:
Software and Process
We use Audacity to record when it’s just the two of us. When we have a guest, we use Skype and Pamela for Skype, then I load the .wav file into Audacity afterward. I set Pamela to save as .wav and to save the caller to a separate channel.
I use Auphonic for noise reduction, audio leveling, MP3ification, and ID3 tagging.
Auphonic exports to Libsyn which is what I use for file storage, but I don’t use any of the fancy features.
