You can’t build a Yellow Brick Road without first wandering through Oz.

Elizabeth writes:

I feel like, sometimes, I am not supposed to have a clear path but instead need to put my hands on everything. Pick it up, examine it, put it down. Move on to the next shiny thing. Turn toward the new rustle in the bushes. Do you ever run into that, this pathless path?

Curious exploration

Oh, of course! Curious exploration is the beginning of all Pathfinding journeys. And it can be a very difficult place to be, because the ego wants to make progress, wants to accomplish, wants to figure it all out.

But if you can let go of that anxiety about the future and be in the present moment, curious exploration can be a ton of fun.

It’s like wandering around Oz, seeing the sights, meeting the people, and picking up stones as you go.

Noticing patterns

Then, at some point, you hear the call, a yearning in your heart. Something calling you, drawing you toward it. Something that wants to come through you.

Hey, look, a lot of these stones are yellow. What could I build with them?

How about a Yellow Brick Road?

There’s always a common thread. It can be more difficult for multipotentialites to find it, but it’s always there. And if it’s not there yet, maybe more curious exploration is exactly what’s right for you at this moment. You can’t make a Yellow Brick Road without first gathering lots of stones.

What if there’s no common thread?

Sometimes the common thread can only been seen through a spiritual lens, not with the naked eye. You may need to look at your life through a different lens.

The spiral

…and then you go around again. A new round of curious exploration, lasting decades or years or months or weeks or days… followed by a new yearning (which is actually a clearer reflection of the one true yearning).

Your path isn’t a straight line; it’s a spiral.

The upshot

Compassion. Compassion and patience.

(Luckily, these are both Divine qualities that you can ask to receive. You don’t need to manufacture them yourself.)

A final question

What if where you are right now is exactly where you need to be?
